Picture - Matisyn (Left) Alaina (Right) Our precious baby girls remain in the NICU. Alaina has lost weight the past couple of nights at her weigh-in/bathtime. She also will do well for about 3 feedings and then for the next two will have to take it by her feeding tube because she won't finish it all. Matisyn is doing really well; she lost weight but then has had a an ounce gain the past two nights. She eats really well but usually once a day will have to finish a bottle through her tube.
The nurse practioner told me yesterday they have to take their full bottles (by nipple) and show a weight gain for 48 hours straight and then we can go home! So if they take 4 feedings by bottles and then the next one they don't; the clock starts all over again. :(
Alaina also has a terrible diaper rash! She just squalls when we go to change her diaper. Last night we changed her and put her on her belly with no diaper to let it air out; Matisyn has a little one forming but it's not near as bad. They prescribed Buddreaux's Butt Paste - funny name but it appears to be working better than the Desitin they were giving them!!
Please keep us all in your prayers!! We need the girls to gain weight & eat, eat, eat!! Also for Matt and I as we are becoming exhausted with numerous trips to the hospital - thankfully the RMH is right behind the hospital so it's only like a 2 minute walk up the hill; but we are just so ready to take our little girls HOME! Also pray for Megan, Katie & Julie as we are away from them during all this. They completely understand; but we miss them a lot!
Also pray for all the little babies in the NICU at Sacred Heart Pensacola. There are some really sad stories in that unit; Matt and I spend 90% of days up there and we see some parents who only come in for 45 minutes to an hour a day.
